Things I’m enjoying about being back in England:
- The smell of my parents’ house.
- Being able to use the internet on my phone. Anywhere.
- Friends.
- Wearing my Dad’s slippers.
- Oat milk.
- Efficiency.
- Good coffee.
- People not commenting on my breasts in the street.
- Tea being more than just a hot drink.
- Not scanning the ground a foot in front of me for dog shit.
- My garden. My plants.
- Going into a supermarket and buying drugs.
- Doctors who aren’t above simple tests.
- Not being stared at (lustily) by every man you pass.
- Not being stared at (suspiciously/questioningly) by every woman you pass.
- Being a native.
- Cheddar cheese!
- …
Things I miss about France:
- The rhythms (language, society etc.).
- Cats actually liking me.
- Etiquette.
- The food.
- Wine.
- Attitudes towards; food, coffee, socialising.
- Architectural identity.
- Being attractive.
- Pharmacies.
- Doctors who seem to care.
- Being a foreigner.
- Cafés
- …
This is a work in progress.
